The difference between the Sea-Doo Speedster and other jetboats comes down to her styling and high-end features. The Speedster, as the name implies, is a fast, agile boat that is nimble in the turns, attractive and best of all, a blast to drive.

Key Features

    There’s plenty of room on this jet boat with seating for five, and the seats are deep, for added safety. Padded grabhandles are well placed for an easy reach. There’s a ski locker in the sole for ski storage and a lockable compartment behind the steering wheel. A built-in cooler means you don’t have to lug one along with you every time you go out. The Speedster has a racing-style console with a padded wheel, and an AM/FM stereo is standard. Plus a new system called Control Steering automatically kicks in 1200 extra rpm with the wheel hard over at slow speeds to make docking easier.

Sea-Doo 2000 Speedster Captain's Report

At the heart of the Speedster is a 240-hp M2 Jet Drive from Mercury Marine. It’s the largest single powerplant you can get in any jetboat. The EFI engine was developed specifically for Sea-Doo, along with a new pump and impeller.

The Speedster has a deep-V hull that gives it great stability in rough water. There is a Hydro-Surge weed guard to prevent the water intake from clogging. The guard is spring-loaded and if it gets clogged, weeds will pass through and be shredded by the big 7 ¼” impeller.

The Speedster also makes for a good tow, with its ski pylon and tow eye.

We recorded a top speed of 50 mph in a choppy sea, but it can go even faster in flat water. At best cruise of 4500 rpm, fuel flow was just 11 gph for a cruising range of more than 100 miles on a single trip to the fuel dock. The Speedster’s styling and high end features is what we especially liked, and of course, driving her.

  • Best cruise for the Sea-Doo 2000 Speedster is 31.8 MPH (51.2 KPH), and the boat gets 2.86 miles per gallon (MPG) or 1.22 kilometers per liter (KPL), giving the boat a cruising range of 103 miles (165.76 kilometers).
