You won’t be aboard long before you realize that the input of a lot of fishermen was considered in the 3070’s design. For instance, her padded cockpit coamings hit you right about mid-thigh, just where you need the support when you’re working a grander. The console is another example. The tilt-away center helm makes maneuvering, quickly, into and out of the two-person, vinyl-covered bench seating easy.
Incidentally, that seat is also the cover for a humongous cooler/stowage box. A drop-down 6-screw panel easily accesses wiring for the flush-mounting electronics. All deck and cockpit areas are protected by a deep, granular molded-in nonslip surface. It’ll take a lot of spilled fishguts for you to take a slider here.
The 3070’s hydraulic steering system and her custom cast aluminum wheel are also standard. Sure, the 3070 is an all-out canyon runner, but don’t expect a spartan layout below. The galley features yachtlike Corian countertops—is equipped with a stainless steel sink, a hot and cold water pressure system, a microwave oven and a dual-voltage refrigerator. An electric Vacuflush head is standard, the flooring is teak and maple and there’s even a drop-in teak table with an inlaid brass margin. The forward bunk is a comfortable double and air-conditioning is an option. Who says fishermen don’t appreciate their comforts, too?
