Like all Princesses, the 32M is designed and built for going to sea, not sitting at the marina turning heads, but she'll do that, too: The company says she's "engineered to the highest seagoing standards." Four- and five-stateroom arrangements are available.
The M Class
The 32M is the first of Princess's new M Class of long-range cruising yachts, and is currently the largest yacht in the company's fleet. She's also the largest vessel ever to be exhibited indoors at London's Excel exhibition halls, site of that city's boat show. Over 13m (42') high, she barely fit through the doors of the South Hall. She made quite an impressive display. She is also one of the largest yachts to be built using resin-infusion technology, which reduces weight and improves performance and cruising range.
But the 32M won't be the queen Princess for long: Later this year the company (which is owned by LVMH) will begin construction on the 130' tri-deck 40M, scheduled for launch early in 2012. The first 40M will be built for a current Princess customer and there is a lot of activity and interest at this point in future hulls.
Princess installed a state-of-the-art "glass bridge" control and monitoring system aboard the 32M, one of the first aboard a yacht of this size. A unified package that is both ergonomic and intuitive to use, the system is usually found on much larger yachts and commercial vessels.
Different Yachts, Different Layouts
The Princess 32M is offered with four or five guest staterooms. In each arrangement, the owner’s suite is on the main deck, with large windows that provide excellent views on two sides. Forward, an owner's head includes a spacious shower and separate whirlpool bath. As usual with a yacht of this size and caliber, each 32M owner has many opportunities to customize the yacht to meet his/her specific needs.

The 32M's salon features large windows on either side. Sliding doors lead out to a drop-down balcony to starboard, giving the entire main deck the "benefit of a spectacular open vista," says Princess. We like this idea, but will the captain always have to keep the yacht's starboard side toward the best view? We suspect so.
Belowdecks, the VIP suite spans the full beam; it's complemented by an additional VIP guest stateroom to port, and a twin-berth guest stateroom to starboard that is reached via a central lobby. Owners who enjoy cruising with larger groups, or those with an eye on the charter market, can opt for the five stateroom layout, with two double guest suites in place of the 'midships VIP stateroom. This is the arrangement on hull number one.
The full-beam owner's suite is on the main deck, and comprises not only a sleeping area, but also a large head with a separate shower and whirlpool bath. Most owners of yachts like the 32M like to stay in touch, so we expect the desk will see lots of action.
What's On the Horizon?
Princess says the 32M "heralds the dawn of a new era" for the company. Plans are underway to invest £45 million ($60 million) to create an industry-leading manufacturing site for building a range of larger yachts. Yes, we expect to see many more M Class Princesses over the next few years.
