Choppy waters are no problem for this vessel.

With a single 115-hp Yamaha 4-stroke, our 185CC broke through the 40-mph barrier with ease. Her sharp entry splits chop like cord wood, and her all business profile shows she's ready for serious fishi

Take a look at that sidedeck walkway! We've seen less room on 30 footers, and this one's just 18! Note the inwale rod stowage for two rods on either side, and we especially liked the twin jump seats o

Edgewater 185 CC Captain's Report

The 185 CC is a well-designed multi-faceted 18-½ boat that is perfect for any consumer that wants the ability to travel the backcountry shallows, or browse the wide-open offshore waters. It comfortably fits four friends and is well laid out for serious anglers, or boaters just looking to have a day of fun on the water.

The 185 CC features a very comfortable helm seat, which allows plenty of room for two people to sit or stand at the wheel. The stainless steel rail that runs around the center console is perfect for holding on during passage through rough inlets. The live baitwell is fine for the recreational fisherman but may be a bit small for a hardcore fishing crew. We also found the fuse panel access to be a bit cramped and would prefer the flip-top center console of the other models.

A variable deadrise V-hull shape translates to fuel-economy, stability and a comfortable ride you’ll brag about. The beam is held far forward giving the 185 plenty of reserve buoyancy in the bow and reversed chines give her a very dry ride; both are features you’ll really appreciate when there’s a sea running.

There’s plenty of open space for staying with a fish, even a casting deck on the bow. And with the optional cushion it doubles as a sun lounge. There’s a 30 by 20-inch locker for stowing away lines and other equipment. Hardware is all top grade 316 stainless steel and it’s all through bolted with backing plates.

Cushioned jump seats are on either side of the engine in the stern and they’re away from the engine so they can be safely occupied while you’re under way. Stainless steel rod holders are mounted in the gunwales on either side, and there’s space to add more if you need them.

The 185 was quick to jump out of the hole in 3.3 seconds, and was up to 30 mph in a total of 8.6 seconds. With a 115-hp Yamaha providing power our test boat reached a top speed of 40.1 mph turning 6000 rpms. The hull delivered a comfortable cruising ride at 19.8 mph with the Yamaha purring at 3500 rpms. At that speed her range with a full 56 gallons is 332 miles.

We found this boat to be ideal for shallow backcountry fishing, but she’s capable of going into deep water after the big stuff. If you are looking for comfort and a well-rounded fishboat the Edgewater 185 CC is an economically sound investment.
