Laguna B-210 SC Captain's Report

Designed to Keep You Out Fishing Longer…

By Capt. Rob Smith

The B-210 SC is a complete boat, motor and trailer package that has Mercury’s supercharged 150-hp Verado on the stern. Laguna leaves little to add before you shove off to your favorite snook hunting grounds, or whatever bay style fishing you love. Laguna builds these boats with high-grade materials so you can concentrate on fishing, not on your next repair bills. They use vinylester barrier coats and no-wood construction to prevent moisture intrusion and rot. The B-210 uses 15 degrees of deadrise at the transom, Carolina flare at the bow and two full and two partial length running strakes to deliver outstanding ride and performance.

Forward Layout Features

Starting at the bow, the B-210 SC has a dedicated pop-up anchor cleat and locker with plenty of room for line. Just aft you step down slightly onto a large raised casting deck that is already wired to add the trolling motor of your choice. The surface of the raised deck has great aggressive grip to keep you safe. In the port locker you have spacious storage capacity. The center locker has plenty of room for a day’s catch and the starboard locker has a rack for four rods and a lock to keep them safe. Grab rails are recessed nicely yet still easy to reach and comfortable to use. Pop-up 6” cleats in the gunwale top will promote snag-free movement from bow to stern. The console front has a handy bench seat with a seat back on sail tracks for easy removal and cleaning. The padded seat bottom covers a 15-gallon aerated livewell for bait up front.

At the Controls

The center console has a wraparound frameless windshield with a heavy duty grab bar surrounding it. The bottom of the windshield has a decorative stripe that also hides what is usually a dirty stripe at the bottom of center console windshields. Moving around to the working side of the helm the top of the helm has a standard Richie compass. On the front, the deluxe helm station sports Mercury’s SmartCraft SC1000 digital instrument gauge set. Below the gauges are lighted rocker switches protected by push-button circuit breakers and also a 12volt socket for personal gear. Next to the gauge set is a space 9”x11” to mount flat panel electronics or additional gauges you might want.

With the Verado engines, Mercury adds the Digital Throttle and Shift controls that make driving a breeze. The helm features a cast stainless 3-spoke wheel with hydraulic steering assist. The seat is a standard 5-position flip-flop seat back with handy removable 94-quart cooler seat in stainless steel rack.

Cockpit Fishing Features

The rear self bailing cockpit has a raised casting deck, wide gunwale tops and two rod positions on each side. The anchor light stores conveniently in clips on the starboard wall. In the stern of the casting deck, the port side is an insulated storage box for gear or part of your catch, and the center is a 28-gallon livewell. If you don’t need this, it can be opted for a cushioned seat for two and removable backrest. The starboard box houses the cranking battery. Back in the engine splash well you will find a handy raw water washdown connection and an access plate to the pumps and water cut offs. When you need a cool dip, the port side has a handy half platform with grab handle and three-step telescoping swim ladder so you can get back on board without help.

Specs and Ride

The B-190 SC proved to be a great handling boat, even in busy chop from an Intracoastal waterway. She was on plane in only 3.4 seconds and passing through 30 mph in only 7.4 seconds. I found her best cruise speed to be around 23.9mph for a full tank range of 249 miles. When I pushed her to top speed, she was capable of 44.4mph.

The B-190 SC is 21’8” length overall with a beam width of 8’6”. She weighs in at about 2,200 lbs. dry and only draws 10 inches with the outboard trimmed out of the water. She has a fuel capacity of 54 gallons and is rated for 150 horsepower.

If you like bay boating and want power, the B-210 SC is Super Charged and waiting!
