Larson Cabrio 260 (2007-) Captain's Report
A Cabin Makeover for Larson’s 260 Cabrio
By Capt. Bob Smith
This year Larson has packed more features, value, and upgrades into the Cabrio line. Larson now has warranty coverage until 2012 on all the Cabrio Line. This is their 5 Plus 5 warranty which covers those items they make as well as the items they install from other companies such as the on-board tanks, electronics and plumbing as well as head, generator, and climate control products. The Larson Cabrio 260 underwent a cabin makeover for 2007 which included upgrading the materials and enhancing storage space throughout the cabin.
At the Bow
Starting up front the 260 mounts the remote controlled spotlight high on the bow to prevent the typical glare-back. The anchor, roller, and chain are led to an optional windlass for effortless anchoring. Large hatches bring in plenty of light and air to the salon below. The windshield is fully framed with a centerline walk-through and the driver’s side has a wiper for clearing the view.
A popular option is the sport arch which allows all the antennas to be mounted up and out of the way and it is also a handy place to attach the cockpit canvas and speakers. All instruments are in good view and the rocker control switches are right at your fingertips. This year Larson has moved away from the burlwood look and gone to the brushed aluminum panel looks at the helm with a mahogany tilt wheel. The helm seat has slide and swivel adjustments with a bolster for stand-up comfort underway with a comfortable lounger to port.
For Entertaining
In the cockpit is a starboard side wet bar with sink, grab rail, under sink storage, and a carry-on cooler for keeping your ice handy. Across the back of the cockpit is a stowable bench that provides extra seating capacity, but when not needed it stores away neatly. Snacks or beverages can be served on the table back here. The port side has a really versatile seat which folds down flat for when you want to catch some sun.
New Cabin
Heading down into the cabin, the trash bin is stored under the bottom step saving room in the galley and wisely using space in the salon. The galley is to port side and has a B&D coffee maker, Tappan microwave, sink with pull-out hand wand, and Isotherm refrigerator, and there is plenty of storage is under the sink. An optional single burner cooktop helps you make a dinner at your favorite anchorage. The optional DVD player is mounted next to the galley along with the power panel and optional 6-CD changer.
Sleeping Accommodations
The V-berth fills the forward section and creates a cozy space for dinner and after dinner this area turns into a comfy spot to watch your favorite movies. The mid cabin is situated under the cockpit sole and has a double berth complete with reading lights.
The head is just across from the galley and includes an enclosed compartment with pull out wand shower, stainless steel sink, and manual head. Next to the head is the pantry which includes a pull-out silverware drawer.
