Four Winns V338 (2009-) Captain's Report
A Lot to Like…
The Four Winns V338 is a big enough boat that you can do a lot with her and be confident in her for coastal work. She’s such a versatile boat that the adventure possibilities are as boundless as your capabilities as a boater.
Let’s go over this boat and start with the swim platform. About all that’s missing is the ski tow eye. The platform is large extends past the outdrives, which is a big safety feature. The ladder extends deep enough to make boarding easy and it’s also mounted on the side of the platform, so you’re not climbing over the outdrives to re-board.
For the quick rinse after swimming and getting the salt off, there’s a transom shower. We’d rather see the shower mounted somewhere other than in the same compartment as the shore power connections however.

This is a well-laid out cockpit and bridge deck. Virtually everything on a far large boat is here. Why get a bigger boat when the V338 will do the job?
Cockpit…
The cockpit was made for entertaining, and everyone is grouped into a nice contained area, so that no matter where you sit, you’re still a part of the conversation. The helm has two seats with separate flip up bolsters--just the way it should be.
There’s an option for adding a TV in the cockpit, but really, if you need TV while we’re heading to the island paradise, you’ll get moved to my “do not invite” list. But for families… well that’s another story.

Again, the design team of the interior knew what they were doing. Note that there is storage everywhere. Remember, this is a 33’ boat. I like the use of privacy curtains as this boat is just too small for a bulkhead and swinging door.
Moving Below…
Below deck, the appearance is stunning. The mid cabin is wide open and it seems to be the perfect place to sit at the end of the day with a good book, while still being in reach of the main salon area. Sort of a settling-in spot. There’s even a standard table to place there for late night snacks or coffee/tea.
The galley isn’t laid out for a gourmet meal, but that’s not what this boat is for. We’re on a weekend getaway, and that includes eating out at the destination. Underway, we’ll have pre-prepared food that we brought on and stored in the dual voltage refrigerator. We can reheat with the microwave and the coffee maker is standard.

This photo shows an attention to detail that you rarely see from any builder. Note there is a molded in form to exactly fit the table and pedestal.
Time to Sleep…
The mid cabin seating fills in to sleep two comfortably and it closes off with a privacy curtain, so no talking about the other guests while drifting off to dreamland. That curtain keeps the area wide and open which really adds to the roominess of the boat.
It’s a 35’ (10.67 m) boat but it has the look and feel of her larger cousins. The forward stateroom is fitted with a queen sized island, and we love how Four Winns makes sure that they have provided storage areas for their removable stuff – like tables. They don’t take up space for our items. Case in point, lift the foot of the berth and there is dedicated storage for the salon table and pedestals, while still leaving room for drawers underneath. If you carry more than two couples or you have a lot of kids, the salon sofa converts to a sleeper, too.

The mid cabin makes a good place for dining or cocktails or board games with the kids. The table drops down and the area makes into a large bunk.
Power Options…
You can choose to power your Four Winns V338 with four different MerCruisers or two Volvo Pentas, all maxing out at 320-hp. If you go with the Merc’s you get the option of adding Axius for joystick docking (add $23,846). A 5kw gen set is standard.
Specifications…
The Four Winns V338 has a LOA of 35'0" (10.67 m) and a beam of 11'6" (3.51 m). She’ll draw 40" (102 cm) with the drives down while displacing between 13,560 – 13,600 lbs. (6,150 – 6,170 kg) depending on engine choice.
If you spend your days at the dock in your sportboat staring at the horizon and lusting for what’s over the edge of the water, then exploring it in the Four Winns V338 is most likely just the ticket for what ails you.
