The Formula 292 FASTech is sleek, sharp-edged, and delivers high-end performance thanks to her FASTech hull configuration which helps increase speed and stability from a conventional deep-V hull. The 24-degree deadrise also gives the 292 the best possible ride in a nasty chop.

The 292 carries Formula’s structural integrity from the hull up. Formula designed it’s own custom triaxial fiberglass which reinforces strength and rigidity. One hundred percent Ashland AME 5000 resin is then applied throughout the lamination process with special coring in the hull, side, and deck for added structural integrity. A fiberglass structural grid is then bonded to the hull to withstand rough offshore conditions. Formula also adds pultrusion reinforcements and fiberglass supports, to the hull for added strength where needed most, usually under the engines and fuel tank.

Starting aft and working our way forward we found the engines to be easily accessible through a motorized lift hatch. With the 292 FASTech you have your choice of MerCruiser twin 350-hp or twin 377-hp engines. The engine room also has courtesy lighting, remote oil filters, and active and passive galvanic corrosion protection systems. There’s good lighting in the engine room and plenty of room to change filters and fluids.

The 292 has seating for 6 people in the cockpit with two in McLeod electric-assist bolster seats and four along the aft benchseat. Because of the performance this 292 is designed for, you need those body-grabbing seats — they’re adjusted electrically of course — and have dual-position footrests. Behind the aft lounge seat there’s a huge sun pad big enough for two adults to comfortably suntan.

The helm features Gaffrig Redline backlit instrumentation, domed with polished aluminum bezels, Kiekhaefer Zero Effort shifters/throttles, and a Dino steering wheel with tilt helm. The helm also has fingertip trim override switches, safety ignition stop switches with tethers, a digital depth sounder and more.

The 292 FASTech is a good-looking high performance boat with overnighting accommodations for two adults. Down below the 292 offers an UltraLeather lounge, a portable head unit, entertainment center with stainless sink, and Kenwood AM/FM CD stereo.

Out on our test run with twin 300-hp MerCruiser 350 Mag MPI sterndrives the 292 came out of the hole in seconds and got up to a top-end speed of 70 mph at 5000rpm. Her best cruise was 34.4 mph at 3000 rpm giving the 292 a cruising range of 216 miles. The 292’s FASTech hull configuration has a lot to do with that effortless jump on plane, but FASTech also gives the 292 incredible grab. When we cranked the wheel from lock to lock there was no cavitation, so she won’t be skidding out of turns.
