Premier's Flagship-310 Boundary Waters PTX
By Capt. Bob Smith
When I climbed on board the 310 Boundary Waters, I was very impressed with the real estate this model has to offer. The 310 definitely has the room, the comfort, and the amenities you need, whether with friends for a evening cruise or with the family for a full day of fun in the sun.
PTX Advantage
The PTX versions of Premier’s line has an added splash guard that runs about two-thirds of the way from back to front. This added feature really helps reduce the drag and improves performance. Also, on the PTX models, Premier mounts the cross-members at 16” on center, instead of the industry typical 24”. Docking lights and the horn are mounted in the front cross member to keep them protected and to get the docking lights low where they are needed. Highly polished corner braces protect the corners from accidental bumps into the dock and handy 6” pop-up cleats allow the proper size lines to be used when docking. Side panel frames are pearl essence media blasted and anodized for a great looking, long lasting finish. Panels are siliconed into place, then crimped to provide rattle-free service. An optional remote spotlight can be added to the starboard corner if you prefer more directional control, like when making an approach into a narrow inlet at night.
At the Bow
The bow entry gate has a well-padded back with the Premier logo imprinted in it. A large 7’ in-floor locker is in the bow section and can actually store all the canvas for this boat in it, or you can fill it with water toys. Our model also came with a portable coffee table with handy filler center piece to make it even larger when needed. I appreciate the choice to take the filler piece along or leave it on the dock, but wish there was a locking mechanism to keep it in place when on board.
Bow seating was tremendous. Our test model came outfitted with the optional bow filler lounge that fits in the space where the bow gate opens. Even though this prevents use of the bow gate, when you have a large group on board, you will use every seat! Seat bases are roto-molded seats for durability and great storage. Seats are hinged and have Flexsteel seat bottoms for extreme comfort. Portable cup holders allow your guests to keep their favorite beverages right next to them without having to hold them the entire ride. A concealed trash bin fits in the lounger end cap and has a small door on the outside for tossing trash in. If you opt for the inverter option, the battery bank fits in part of the lounger seat bottom.
Over on the port side are two Flexsteel captain’s chairs with flip arm rests and adjustable backrests for super comfort. A single post table fits between them for an intimate dinner or snacks and drinks.
Helm Features
The helm station is quite functional. In the front there is a drinkholder for the driver, an ice box in the center, and a handy flip-over drinkholder that transforms into a paper towel holder on the right side. A carry-on cooler fits neatly under the helm or you can store other large items in here. Our test model featured a double Flexsteel captain’s seat at the helm. The Kenwood stereo is located to the left of the wheel and all the instruments are easy to find and read. Since Mercury Verados were mounted on the stern, our test boat was outfitted with SmartCraft instrumentation in the center. I really like those meters! Over on the right I is a Lowrance X-52 for bottom and fish finding. The entertainment helm is boosted up 6” which gives a command view over the front especially when you have people on the loungers underway. A 13’ 6’’ bimini with stainless steel quick connects provides protection from the elements.
More Features Aft
Aft the helm is a huge entertainment center for making snacks and drinks underway. The sea rails have drink holders rings in the ends, there is a hide-away paper towel holder, sink with soap pump, 12volt, and 120 volt sockets are also on the top. Underneath is a Tappan microwave, NorCold refrigerator/freezer and small storage.
Across from the entertainment center is a large L-bench seat with portable table and a flip-up change room. Inside the change room is a mirror, paper towel holder and toilet paper holder. Across the stern you have a stern gate, fresh water wash-down with 8.5 gallon tank, and a three step walk-up built into the stern between the outboards.
