Room for the Family with Performance of a Skiboat--Vectra's 2572 O/B
By Capt. Bob Smith
Deckboats are growing more and more popular because of their versatility and ability to be a large cruising platform and an agile speed boat.
Construction
The Vectra 2572 has plenty of interior cockpit space for friends and family. The 2572’s hull has a 5-year warranty and they use 24 ounce Woven Roving fiberglass and a six inch overlap adds extra strength and durability in stress areas. The reverse chine hull delivers speed and agility as well as a smooth dry ride. The one-piece stringer system is composite for rot-free service and the composite transom reinforcement eliminates the worry about wood rot at that critical point of the boat.
Bow Features
Starting at the bow, the Vectra 2575 has docking lights for safely approaching the docks or the trailer after dark. The spacious platform offers a great place to hang out at anchor on the plush marine grade seating which has plenty of room below for storing your gear. With the filler cushions added, this area transforms into a huge sun platform for soaking up rays. Other features include bow speakers which face the riders for clear listening, pop-up cleats which keep the gunwale tops clear, and a large in the floor locker up front. The port side entry is the preferred method to climb on board if you are parked alongside the dock.
At the Controls
Beneath the helm is another large storage compartment with room for adding stereo amps and player parts. The helm is raised giving you tremendous legroom and putting the instruments up higher for better underway view. Simulated brushed aluminum panels improve the elegant look and the helm seat is just as comfortable as the loungers. Just below the stereo is a MP3 jack so you can play your favorites. On the companion side is a swing-out door to a changing room with Porta-Potti. The aft benches add more room for your friends to join you underway, and the filler cushions create another tanning lounge back here.
Watersports Features
The walk-through on our test boat was to port and came outfitted with a second stereo control head, a swim shower, and a hatch with two fender keepers in the sole. Across the back was a swim platform on port with four-step telescoping ladder and a storage locker in the stern on the starboard side.
