Those sneaky guys at Glastron! They managed to create a stealth fishing boat that hides its fishy features until you’re ready to bring them out.

With rising prices taking a bite out of most families recreational funds, getting a good value in a boat has become a higher priority. Value seems to mean something special at Glastron, as evidenced by its GT 205 Ski & Fish. This boat is packed with features that should please everyone in the family, from the die-hard fisherman to the avid wakeboarder.

The GT 205 Ski & Fish is the latest and largest in this line of mid-priced sportboats from Glastron. The GT line has become very popular for the 52-year-old boat builder.

Conversion Takes Minutes

Converting this boat from a skiboat to a dedicated fishing platform is simple—and you don’t have to go back to the dock. Just flip over and swap the bow seats, remove the stern sun pad and stow it next to the engine, pull out the bow filler deck, insert two pedestals, and relocate two of the aft seats, which double as fishing pedestal seats, to the bow and stern. The result: a fishing boat with a bow and stern fishing platform. And with a fishfinder and trolling motor—complete with foot controls and rear engine controls—you’re more than ready to fish.



The trolling motor plugs into a panel that has switches for the dual batteries, livewell pump, and outdrive trim.

What we also like is how sharp it looks on the water. Glastron has added a lot of style to the hull, while at the same time delivering a boat that performs well.



Those seats do double duty as fishing pedestal seats for the bow and stern platforms. The cooler slides out on its own roller tray. We love how you can see easily what is stored underneath the seats.

Complete Package

The Glastron GT 205 Ski & Fish comes pretty much complete. You get a mount and electrical connections for a trolling motor at the bow. The trolling motor plugs into a panel that includes a battery switch, so you don’t drain the boat’s battery with the trolling motor, a switch for the livewell aerator, and a trim switch for the outdrive. The aerated livewell is built-in at the stern along with a cool built-in tackle box. There are also nicely designed racks for your fishing rods along the gunwales. Of course, you get plenty of storage below deck, at the bow, and under the stern seats.



By flipping over and swapping positions of the bow seats, and then adding a deck filler, you’ve transformed the bow into a fishing platform.



Hiding under the aft sunpad lies a tackle storage compartment and an aerated livewell.

Power Options

With engine choices from MerCruiser or Volvo Penta, you can opt for a variety of horsepower from 135 to 270-hp. Before deciding, you should consider how many people you’ll likely be carrying, and what you can get easily serviced in your local area. The Volvo Penta 5-liter 220-hp sterndrive pushed our test boat to a swift 53 mph, and gave a best cruise of 23 mph while burning only 5.6 gph. That translates into a range of 112 miles on 35 gal (132 L) of fuel.

Looking Good

What we really like about this boat is how she looks - her smooth lines really catch your eye. The builder should be commended for making it so easy to convert this boat from a ski to a fishboat. We also like that you can choose which section of the boat—bow, stern, or both - to convert. So if you have someone who wants to ski for a bit, and another who wants to fish, both worlds of boating are available.
