A Sporty New Ride--Regal’s 1900 Bowrider

All new for 2006 is Regal’s 1900 Bowrider. This sportboat handles like a much larger bowrider and delivers a smooth dry ride, even when the wind kicks up.

Bow Features

The 1900 Bowrider has a carrying capacity of eight passengers. Up front bow seating consists of two lounger backs with built-in armrests. When used as benches, several can join in on the conversation up front. The anchor locker is large enough to handle a Danforth style anchor. An example of Regal’s innovation is shown with the StoreMore dry storage compartments located in the helm and companion pods. These handy compartments open from the bow and increase the already spacious storage up front.

Storage and Controls

This bowrider is watersports-ready with plenty of storage space throughout. A huge in-sole storage compartment is located between the helm and companion seat in the cockpit. This space is large enough to store kneeboards and wakeboards. Regal eliminates pesky noises while underway by using heavy-duty gaskets on the hatches.

The cockpit is surrounded by burlwood accents. The Kenwood stereo, which is standard, is stored away from the elements in the glove box, and over at the helm, Regal brings automotive influence to the stereo controls with a standard Dino Sport tilt wheel with on-the-wheel stereo controls. Rocker control switches for power are all protected by circuit breakers. Faria Fog-Free gauges monitor the engine performance and an optional depth gauge helps you keep an eye on the bottom as you slip into a cove or up to the beach. The driver’s bucket seat is also very comfortable and adjusts for personal comfort.

At the Stern

Getting to the engine for pre-launch checks is simplified. A single latch pops the sun pad to reveal the engine and storage below. There is enough room here to also store life jackets or other items you want to dry.

Cool beverages and snacks can be stowed under the stern bench seat. Once you are out on the water and ready to show your moves there is a starboard walkthrough to access the spacious swim platform. After a turn at the tow line, you can climb aboard without the help of others with the deep reach swim ladder. Another innovative idea on this model are the trailering lights on the stern of the boat. When situated on the trailer and hooked up to the tow vehicles system, anyone behind will be able to see you.

Specifications

The new 1900 measures 19’9” length overall and has a beam width of 8’3”. Her weight is 2,800 lbs. so towing should be no problem with most family vehicles. With a maximum draft requirement of 31” you will also be able to get to most of your favorite beaches. This model has a fuel capacity of 30 gallons for a full day without constantly searching for the next fuel dock.

Performance

Our test boat was equipped with a 190-hp Volvo 4.3L GL sterndrive engine. This power accelerated the boat to a top speed of 48.9 mph at 4650 rpm. On our test run cruise speed was also brisk at 35.6 miles per hour at 3500 rpm, giving us a range of 100 miles.

Range is based on 90% of published fuel capacity. Sound levels determined using Radio Shack digital decibel meter on A scale. 68 dBA is the level of normal conversation.
