Regal 3060 Commodore Captain's Report
Tested By Capt. Bob Smith
The all new Regal 3060 Commodore Express casts a very recognizable silhouette on the water, yet she has some inspirations from boats past. Regal uses large windows across the front and long cat eye windows along the sides to maximize light below bathing everything in a natural light. Topside, they have maximized the spaces to allow for comfortable cruising and entertaining along the way and at anchor.
Aggressive non-skid topsides make working around the bow and with ground tackle safe. The windlass is hidden and the manual crank, if you ever need it, is right there at the windlass, not stuffed away somewhere to never be found until you’ve run aground. The anchor locker even has a light so you can see what is going on in the dark. The windlass is foot actuated but also has helm controls. A nice double sun pad can be hooked on the front for lazy afternoons and tanning. The walkthrough windshield has steps up the dash for easy egress to and from the bow.
At the Controls
The helm is set up for easy view of every component and includes a compass, Faria fog-free backlit gauges with stainless steel bezels. Instrumentation includes tachometer, speedometer, trim, fuel, volts, temperature, oil, hour meter and digital depth gauge. Water resistant switches are protected by circuit breakers. The dash has a great non-glare top to it as well. Tilt steering, non-slip Dino steering and a remote stereo control wrap up the dash.
Cockpit Layout
A semi-circular bench starts across from the helm and wraps around to the stern walkthrough at mid cockpit. You can set up a table here for serving snacks or leave it stashed for more freedom of movement in the cockpit. Behind the helm is an integrated wet bar with sink, faucet and trash bin. Across the stern is a fold-away bench seat that works like a charm. When you fold the legs up, they lock the bench into the stern wall. When you are ready to set it up, you just unfold the legs and it drops into position.
On the transom you have a shower with hot and cold water. Storage port and starboard and a power cord locker and a stainless steel swim ladder are also on the extended swim platform area.
Stepping Below
In the cabin you have a galley with Corian countertop, storage cabinets and a highly polished stainless steel sink. Equipment includes a microwave, two-burner electric cooktop and an under counter refrigerator. The head has non-slip flooring in the shower, Vacu-flush toilet and a vanity with sink and mirror. The mid cabin has a hanging locker that is cedar lined to keep your clothes fresh. It also has a queen-sized bed with a real inner spring mattress. Overhead room is over six feet in here!
The main saloon has a folding dinette table with a large seating area. This area can be converted into a double bed quickly for added sleeping space. Accent lighting makes the area cozy for night time activities and a Kenwood stereo keeps the tunes going strong as long as you want.

Performance and Ride
We tested the 3060 with twin Volvo Penta 5.0 GXi dual prop sterndrives. This combination gave us 540 shaft horsepower to go just about anywhere we wanted. She is on plane in 8.2 seconds and passing through 30 mph in 14.8 seconds. We found her best and most economical cruise to be at 3000 rpms which equals 25.8 miles per hour on this boat. At cruise she burns 14.9 gallons per hour and delivers a range of 235 miles on a full tank of fuel. Wide open throttle is at 4850 rpms and 47.7 mph with a fuel burn of 42 gallons per hour.
If you have been looking for a new idea in express cruising that gives a breath of fresh air and light onto everything you do on board, then the all new Regal 3060 Commodore Express awaits you at the docks of your local dealer.
