Regal 2120 Destiny Captain's Report
The 2120 Destiny — A New Breed of Deckboat
Deckboats have come a long way since they were first introduced. Today’s deckboats offer far more versatility, comfort, and performance than their predecessors and Regal has answered the call with their new 2120 Destiny.
The 2120 destiny is a great riding day boat thanks in part to the 16-degree deadrise aft and the advanced design of the hull.
Forward there’s a bow platform and a neatly concealed bow ladder that great for boarding from the beach or the water. Sleek docking lights brighten after sunset returns to the dock and there’s pull-up cleats that help prevent unwanted snags whether you’re fishing or swimming.
The bow seating area can comfortably accommodate a number of guests and there’s lots of storage for your gear beneath both integrated sun lounges. The walkthrough windshield provides easy access to the cockpit and offers protection from the elements when closed.
The helm features a stylish combination of gauges and meters that are easily visible while underway. The steering wheel tilts for added comfort and the helm seat has a flip up bolster for added visibility. Just below the helm is a large storage area that’s perfect for clothes and towels. There’s also storage in the floor for additional gear. Opposite the helm is an enclosed head that’s very roomy for a boat this size. Your guests will appreciate this most out on the water and you’ll be happy you don’t have to return to the dock.
The number one Regal customer request was a wrap around windshield on this model that adds style and comfort to this day boat. The cockpit features a cooler beneath the port bench seat and the passenger seat converts into an aft facing sun lounge…a very clever and well-designed feature! There’s also additional storage in a large floor locker just behind the helm.
Engine access is easy by tilting the rear seat forward and there’s plenty of room to perform routine maintenance or servicing. There are also a number of super engine and drive combinations available.
Access to the transom and dive platform is easy using the transom gate that also increases safety, and there’s additional storage or cooler space here in this compartment. There’s even another boarding ladder aft.
With and overall length of 22’5”, beam of 8’6”, and a dry weight of 3,400 pounds, the 2120 Destiny rides across the water with stability and control.
On test day we recorded a top speed of 44 mph with a decibel level of 89. Best cruise was determined to be 30 mph giving you a realistic range of 150 miles using 90% of its 47- gallon capacity. Time to plane was 4.7 seconds, which equates to pulling your skiers or wakeboarders up quickly. Overall, handling and performance were quite impressive.
With a great riding hull, lots of comfort, and great versatility, the Regal 2120 is a great choice for those looking for a deckboat that has a bit more to offer than the rest of the pack.
