Regal 2950 LSC Captain's Report

Regal 2950 LSC is a Sportboat and More

Just mention the brand Regal and one thing usually comes to mind...the FasTrack hull design. But with the new 2950 LSC you not only get that performance edge, but you also get a rare commodity on a cuddy boat: space.

Regal promises you’ll get maximum performance from its standard engine package due to the FasTrack hull. Its unique deep-vee shape really cuts through the water, but it’s tempered by the FasTrac bottom that increases stability and helps the boat get up on plane faster.

The roominess on this boat begins in the cabin. It has a surprisingly large cuddy with a V-berth that converts into a settee, a mini-galley to port, and an enclosed head to starboard. The cabin is nicely finished in true Regal fashion with full headliner, side wall coverings, and nicely finished cushions. In my opinion, this boat would be perfect for a weekend getaway with the wife, or a great place for the kids to sleep “out of the house” for a night.

The helm is a nice layout of comfort and style with its burlwood dash and host of full instrumentation and gauges. There’s a tilt sport steering wheel and you can run the boat either sitting or standing thanks to the flip up bolster in the doublewide helm seat. I found that operating the boat while standing gave me a greater sense of control and unity with the boat when I put it through the paces. The wraparound windshield also provided great protection from the elements when at high speed.

Opposite the helm is a comfortable passenger seat for your navigator. Just behind is a full wet bar with sink, trash receptacle, and built in cooler space. Opt for the pressurized water option and you’ll have running water at this station.

The cockpit is another area that provides surprising space. There’s a full wraparound lounge that utilizes the full area of the cockpit wrapping an almost full 240 degrees. With the table insert so you can comfortably seat a full crew of guests or convert it, using the inserts to another spacious sunbed. The rear seat actually doubles as a transom gate making boarding to and from the dive platform very easy. Under the cockpit seats you’ll find tons of storage for your gear and the engine is accessed at the flick of a switch, raising the aft portion of the cockpit.

The transom/ dive platform features yacht style storage hatches and there’s an integral boarding ladder for those who like to take to the water. The transom is also low and sloped making docking a snap when backing in.

From bow to swim platform, the 2950 runs a full 29 feet with a wide 9-foot beam. Her dry weight is a nimble 5,800 pounds and her draft is only 34” with the drive up. The real number here is the full 24-degree deadrise aft. Not many sportboats on the market are that aggressive and it translates into a serious rough water performance boat. That deep-vee coupled with the FasTrack hull really give some attitude to this boat!

The 2950 popped out of the water in only 5.2 seconds, and once there, ran a blistering 59.3 mph wide open. We found the best and most efficient cruise speed to be 32.9 mph at 3000 rpm although it will be tough for you to keep the throttles back on this one. She’s also a blast to drive with great tracking through tight turns at high speed.

Overall, the 2950 LSC is a great choice for a family that wants to have fun, look good doing it, and have a boat that is not only great looking, but great performer
